Melissa Bartlett has led a successful career as a dancer, choreographer and instructor.
She began studying ballet at the age of nine with the Des Moines Ballet and Ballet Iowa, performing in several productions of the Nutcracker, Cinderella and Stars & Stripes. As a high school student, she participated in Summer study programs with the Burklyn Ballet Theatre and the Milwaukee Ballet School. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Ballet and Modern
Dance from the University of Missouri in Kansas City where she was the first freshman student allowed in all senior-level classes.
Ms. Bartlett has created ballet and pointe curriculum for students ages 3 to adult, working with beginner, intermediate and advanced level dancers. She is also a Pilates instructor and was the owner and lead instructor at Physical Fuzion from 2006-2011.
Ms. Davis has earned a Masters of Arts Degree (cum laude) in Theater Arts and Criticism from Florida State University, School of Theater, Tallahassee, and a Bachelor of Arts from Miami-Dade Community College, Miami.
Overseas study includes a course in Theater in London, England, with concentration on Shakespeare. Her many awards include Costume Shop Service Grant, Best Supporting Actress in ’86, Best All-around Drama Student Award in ’86, Drama Dept. Scholarship ‘85-86, and many others.
Ms. Davis has taught workshops at: Hogwarts School of Magic and Fun, Baton Rouge, LA; School of Magic and Fun in Fairhope, AL; John Casablanca’s Modeling and Career Center, Jacksonville, FL; Hogwarts School of Magic and Fun, Worcester, MS; Jedi Academy of Louisiana, Lacombe, LA; and was a performance instructor at the Imaginorium School of Theatrical Wizardry, Warwick, RI.
Alexis Gay began training at the Academy of the Arts dance studio studying jazz and ballet under the direction of Susan Crawford.
She later trained under Juilliard graduate, Edward Lawrence, in the areas of ballet, modern, and jazz. In 2013, Miss Gay joined Stephenson High School’s Dazzling Diamonds dance team and became captain of the 2014-2015 dance line.
While in high school, Alexis served as principal dancer for Stephenson Repertory Dance Company. On a scholarship through the National Music Scholarship Fair, Alexis attended and marched at Talladega College, under the direction of Miguel Bonds. Miss Gay is currently a student at Jacksonville University pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. Alexis is enthused to work with such a program that can benefit youth in the arts in the same way she did.
